tradicional ibiza style

We’ve told you before: there is no such thing as the Ibiza style for your house since there are several styles that fall perfectly under this heading: from white and modern to colourful and bohemian. Each architect adds their own twist to it. So for each issue, we’re asking someone else: what is your Ibiza style? This time, we spoke with interior and technical architect Marife Payer, President of the Official College of Quantity Surveyors and Technical Architects of Ibiza and Formentera.

WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS HAVE YOU DONE ON IBIZA?

“Since I arrived here, I have had the opportunity of working on many housing projects and designs, many of which were commissioned by Blakstad and private developers. Nowadays, I am involved in developing Mediterranean (Ibicenco) building projects, among other things. These are partly my own designs, inspired by the customs of and life on Ibiza. In addition, I am currently supervising the Five Elements Project with my team, in which qualified professionals from various fields work together to achieve a high-quality final product.”

WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION?

“I am mainly inspired by nature, the simple life, the Mediterranean light, the interplay of light and shadow, the sound of the water, the scent of orange blossom, the blue colour of the sea… Ibiza is very inspiring in that respect. I want to make sure that people are in touch with nature in their homes as well, even if the home is fully adapted to modern technology.”
